South Heartland Smiles
January 27, 2026
South Heartland Smiles is an oral health prevention service. We work with public health dental hygienists to bring our dental program to childcare facilities, providing dental education and prevention services to support overall better oral health. It is not meant to take the place of regular checkups at your family dentist.
Services Offered
- Screening involves looking inside the mouth to assess if there are any potential problems with the teeth and/or gums.
- Fluoride is painted on the teeth to prevent decay.
- Sealants are coatings placed on the back teeth to prevent decay. They seal out food and bacteria from the grooves in your teeth. We apply them only if needed. If existing sealants have chipped or worn away, we can touch them up as well.
- Education will be provided on the causes of tooth decay, gum disease, and the importance of a healthy, low-sugar diet.
- Starter Kits For children ages 0 - 5, we offer dental health starter kits. These kits contain age-appropriate toothbrushes for each developmental stage up to age 5, along with guidance on how to use them.
- Referrals If you are in need of help finding a dental home, or finding affordable dental care, please contact us at 402-462-6211. Ask for Heidi.
