Cancer Coalition

Cancer Coalition Mission and Vision: 
The mission of the South Heartland Cancer Coalition and South Heartland District Health Department with their partners in Clay, Nuckolls, Webster and Adams County is to raise awareness of the need for cancer screening; provide appropriate education to inform of symptoms and advantages of early detection; and promote evidence based screening opportunities.

The vision of the South Heartland Cancer Coalition is that all citizens of south central Nebraska will become aware that most cancers are treatable when caught early. Citizens will engage in prevention activities and seek early screenings in accordance with the USPSFT, physicians will discuss cancer screenings at annual physicals, rates of screening will increase and rates of cancer will decrease.

Current Cancer Coalition Members: 

South Heartland District Health Department Public Health Nurse, South Heartland District Health Department Board Member, Morrison Cancer Center, Mary Lanning Community Health Center staff member, Cancer Surviver, American Cancer Society representative, South Heartland District Health Department Community Health Worker, Brodstone Memorial Hospital Representative.
